I love 52 and can't wait for countdown. In my article stated that it is the best $2.50 I spend a week. I personally think that weekly books stay fresh in one's memory and keep me excited about the title. I would rather have a weekly book with good writers and competent artists (52) than some blockbuster TV writer and prodigy artist that can't keep a deadline (Ultimate wolverine/hulk, Authority, Wildcats). How do you all feel about buying a weekly title? Do you think that this is a good idea for the furure of comics?

I'm all for them. I remember how excited I was when I first read about the weekly U.S. War Machine series. A comic available on a weekly basis? Wonderful!
And while I haven't been blown away by 52, it's still pretty cool to have something out every week. I'm looking forward to Countdown, and I hope this leads to even more weekly titles from more publishers.
It definitely beats the hell out of waiting for several months between issues of The Ultimates. Unfortunately, despite the fact that you and I get annoyed by waiting for these late books, other people will still buy a ton of them when they get released, and as such the publishers will continue to think it's OK to have such huge delays.

Corwin doesn't like signatures. But Corwin does love to dance.

Aw man I hate waiting long to read something!

Frikkon artists are just slackers! It doesn't take a month to write and draw 20 pages

I would love to see stuff come out weekly. Not only does it make everyone more money, it KEEPS people interested in the story line. Like...have you ever waited for something so long that you forget the story line and got all pissed off you had to re-read all the past issues just to find out what was going on? Not only that but if you keep people waiting on something that long...they begin to loss intrest and it becomes "Oh yeah...that last issue was okay..." not "Oh man YES!! I FINALLY get to find out what's going on!"

Actually, and I can't verify this, but I'm pretty sure it does take most artists a months to draw a comic. Not only do they have to draw it, but they have to submit it for approval and make changes based upon critiques, at least one would think. The general idea is to start writing and drawing a series months in advance making it very easy to get a book out on time. It's much like a TV Show where episodes 7 and 8 are being filmed while 2 and 3 are being aired.

On the subject of a weekly comic, I liked 52 in the beginning, lost interest a few issues in, gave it another shot and enjoyed it, but lost interest once more. Around issue 40 things really began to pick up and I was stoked about that. I guess not everything can be exciting in a weekly series, there has to be a lot of set-up.

Countdown, that is a title I'm really looking forward to. I think it's going to be much better than 52 for some reason. I don't know why Marvel isn't attempting a weekly series either, that doesn't make any sense. In the last 8 months, I've read 32 issues of 52 but only 8 of Uncanny X-Men. I barely remember how this story started for Uncanny...

Weekly?

Screw it!!

I mean yeah cool concept. Its just kinda tough to pic up a comic every week when there is just way too much rad stuff out there to pic up. Single issues can be like Crack!

Check this out! Only one of my arm pits are smelling! Wtf? The other is just fine!

Strange!

Yeah I guess I didn't think about it like that. I mean I haven't been reading 52 but everyone that has, has said nothing but good things about it. I heard there was a slight slump but that was it.

It must be cool trying to figure everything out like if Booster gold farts in the form of a question mark than he might be "The new Question" or whatever. Stuff like that...goodtimes.

I mean if its a book you dig. Screw it. Why not come out every week. Hell I wish Detective Comics or Daredevil came out every week! But thats just me!

Who is down for Nachos!?!

I like the idea of weekly comics, as the storyline would hold my attention in a far more intense manner, but I don't like the trade off of having rotating artists. Marvel may take forever to finish some story arcs, but at least they don't clutter those runs with fill-in artists as much as DC does. It's a double-edged sword.

The only way to properly do a weekly series is to start on it so far in advance (6 months?) to do it justice. I could live with 4 regular artists on a weekly book if they did it this way.

'Churchill! With his cigars, with his brandy, and his rotten painting! Rotten! Hitler, there was a painter. He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon--two coats!'

Yay on weeklies.

The only thing I would say is that maybe they should be less than 52 weeks..while 52 was awesome,   there were alot of slow weeks at the beginning that seemed to drop interest in the book.

I'm really looking forward to Countdown

What about an ongoing weekly, I wouldn't be against that.

I'd buy it.... and love it!

I think that without an end point - the story would flow a bit better,   just because they wouldn't have to do as much intial setup.

At 2.99 a week, I'd be given pause. I buy 2000 A.D. weekly for almost 5 bucks a pop and it hurts every single time. But Countdown and 52 don't have Judge Dredd!

I'm not giving up on the weekly comics thing, though if Judge Dredd were in countdown that would be very interesting

It's a Simpson's reference. Remember the stonecutter episode?
