Did anyone else read that Multiverse article in Wizard?

It seemed like it was a week early -   and it just felt like it was a red herring (not a Red Robin)... it seems like Wizard is often used for misdirection,  like their "odds" column every month.   It seems like usually the lowest odds person identified by Wizard is never actually the one that actually ends up doing whatever the poll was about (like who will be the father of Selina's baby)

I'm really hoping the multiverse is back to stay.. I think it opens up alot of story potential.

OH wow. "It's no secret that the multiverse is back following the events of 52 #52" Well it isn't NOW, is it?

Arguably though, this was given away a year ago by JLA #0 with the big three "in the future" finding a second earth. (On a side-note, why has everyone forgotten the anti-matter earth? You know, where the revamped Crime Syndicate lived? Yeah their world got taken out during Infinite Crisis, but no one remembers them?)

I wasn't around for the original mutli-verse. But all I know is that they got rid of it because it made things too complicated, and it took the first ever maxi-series to take care of things.

If they do start having titles taking place on alternate earths, I would like some sort of identifier on the cover. Like how the Ultimate Universe has those side-bar things on every cover. Something that says "THIS BOOK TAKES PLACE ON EARTH 4" in one fashion or another.

Maybe that's the reason they are putting out a tangent trade. Maybe the Earth 2 books will be tangent...but not tthe old one...a way of saying everything you love but different.
Maybe they will bring back Elseworlds.

I remember that this was leaked by DC several months ago on Newsarama. Somebody had cleverly encoded it into one of their interviews and then a fan cracked the code that night. STUPID! But anybody who has been reading ION saw it coming as well. I mean, he crashes into the bleed right? With Captain Atom? Who's already been to the WS universe. What other universe uses the bleed. The Authority. Planetary. Vertigo. Sweetness! Also, after week 51 of 52, it seems that there are exactly 52 universes that need saving. And this time insted of letting them collapse into one, their job is to keep them seperate.

One more thing. All those Elseworlds crossover tales could become continuity.

The multiverse is one of the things that's made DC so special over the years, the stiries the can tell are limitless, & personally I always considerd every elseworlds story to be part of continuity just because of the multiverse; the Nail could be Earth 21, Gotham by Gaslight, Earth 337, Marvel Civil War, Earth 616, (heh heh heh.) The multiverse is great it means all of those stories actully happened, just not neccicarily on New Earth.

You know..  I thought they were headed that way when they started labeling their books "original universe"   -  I kept thinking..  "as opposed to....???"

Here's a website that talks about it..  although it turns out it was only in house ads..   not on the cover..

I thought the "original universe" meant the original, longest running & best comic book universe, I never even thought about which particular DC earth the story took place on

Haha -  nice one.   You'd have fun on the Newsarama boards where we get noobs claiming that Marvel invented superheroes, super villains, dinosaurs,  World War II,  and pretty much anything else ever in a comic book.

A classic argument I had with a guy was claiming that the Suicide Squad was a ripoff of the Freedom Force  (despite pre-dating it by 20 years).   I replied back that it's a good thing that Freedom Force was created otherwise they never could have made the Dirty Dozen, and Lee Marvin would still be an unknown.  I'm surprised he didn't ask me if Lee Marvin drew Cable once.

I like the idaea of a multiverse it allows for interesting stories without messing up the main storyline. Unfortunatly Marvel and DC both don't always use the oppertunity right.

Any "Marvel Zombies" complaining about DC having a multiverse should take a look at this:

On a semi-related note. I can't help but find it ironic that Joe Q and Tom Breevort (how however you spell his name) complain about the Marvel U proper being refered to as the "616" univerise when they publish a little book called "Exiles" that takes that numbering system and runs with it like a madman.

I wasn't complaining either. Exiles is one of the few Marvel books I still pick up.
