Hands down....Ben Templesmith owns this one. I kept trying to think of another painter whose work I liked and I kept naming his books.

Nicolas De Crecy, never seen it
Melinda Gebbie, looks like a 5 year old with the 64 box of crayons
Ben Templesmith, don't get me started , very nearly the worst artist in comics today
Jill Thompson, kids book artist at best
Brett Weldele, Southland Tales: Prequel Saga, nothing special

How about Brian Bolland, according to board member Buddy Baker "he hasen't put pencil to paper in nearly 8 years" look at the Detective Chimp cover, that dude is amazing

I hate to break it to the Dr., but Detective Chimp came out Jan. 17 making it ineligible for the 2007 Eisners, but eligible for the 2008 Eisners.  Start your writing campaign now.

if you want to knitpick, then I would have noimiated Brian Bolland for anything he did in the interiors of whatever book it was during the pre-determined time

Jason Shawn Alexander (not the Sienfield guy) is a great painted artist.  His painted interiors are great.  Check out Damn Nation or The Secret.  Both of which don't qualify for an Eisner nomination because of my own infernal knitpicking.

Personally, I'm surprised they didn't feel obligated to give Alex Ross a nomination just for being Alex Ross.

I vote Alex Ross for best colorist, on Justice he's just a top billed colorist, he's not doing any of the pencils.
