Does anyone miss the slightly less powerful superman from the 80's? Since the Crisis he has been a little too omnipotent for me and Kryptonite has been more of an annoyance that a liability. I like the Matt Wagner Superman in Trinity and the Bruce Timm animated Supes that are way better than everyone but not soooo overpowered that they can just pick up the planet or move mountains.
what's your opinion? |

| I don't like superman period. He is way too powerful. Not to mention invincible. I mean who carries kryptonite around in their pocket? It just seems a bit boring to me. |

Hi John,
I'm not really a big Superman fan, but I agree the current Superman incarnate is pretty lame. I think you were the one that recommended Northlanders to me earlier tonight? I loved it! It was more hardcore than Fables. The writing reminded me of Neil Gaiman and Phil Hester put together, if that makes sense? Anyway, I realize none of that had anything to do with Superman, sorry! Thanks for the recommendation, and nice taste in comics!

Hey, sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I got caught up playing Wii at my friend's house. Thanks for the heads up on Coraline! I'm not familiar with that story. Do you know what Coraline is about? Is it really awesome? Again, I apologize for the non-Superman questions! |

| Honestly I did not read the novel but one of my friends loved it. I am an American Gods/Good Omens kinda guy. Coraline was Gaiman writing a book for a slightly younger audience, like the Harry Potter titles. I know it had critical acclaim, I just never got around to reading it. Wish I could have been more help. |

OMG, no, you totally did help. That might be why I've never heard of it! I believe you, the American Gods, Good Omens book is probably really amazing. I mostly know Neil Gaiman from The Sandman and the really old Spawn stuff, like his writing on the Angela mini series.
BTW, what you said on the Free Comic Book Day thread was really inspirational. It's cool that you look up to Erik Larsen and Rob Liefeld like that. I didn't have enough time to go back and post that, so I figured I'd tell you here. You write and draw your own comics? |

I have been working on the script for my book for about a year and really I knida dropped drawing due to the fact that I just like to design and not actually draw. I operate like Keith Giffen, I thumbnail out the pages and now am awaiting the perfect artist for the project. Also American Gods is so good I reread it at least once a year. |

Wow, that's really amazing! I admire people who can write their own comics. I've never had the guts to try. One of my friend's asked me to read their script to help with editing. I'm totally blown away by the talent you have to possess to write your own script! I'm terrible at doing artwork, but I really love art, which sounds weird!
You're into designing, like doing pencils or sketching? Or computer animation stuff? What comics are you into besides American Gods and Northlanders? BTW, I like your Sinestro quote. He's bad right? Like a villain? You'll have to excuse me if that was a really dumb question! I mostly stick to indy comics, so I'm kinda behind on my Marvel/DC knowledge. |

I like to design the looks for characters and figuring out all the little extra details of all the assorted gear and logical applications for it.
Right now I am really into Dynamo 5, Invincible and Noble Causes but I read just about everything. I am a Huge Fables fan and realy enjoy Scalped. There are very few things I do not read. I have rarely read a book I did not enjoy.
Sinestro was overzealous and that led to evil. He wanted to create order thru fear and that was not what the Guardians of the Universe wanted and so he was stripped of his Green Lantern Status. He was not always as bad as his name implies. Really his overall goal was to strengthen the Corps for the upcoming trials and tribulations of a changing universe. |

That is so cool! I love gear and weaponry. Duh, I should have asked you what your comic is about? Or can you not reveal anything cuz pretty much anyone can read what you say? I still think that's kinda creepy, but it must be because I'm new to the message board thing!
I wanted to ask you what comics you like because you seem really knowledgeable, and lately I've been getting bored with the stuff I read. Every month it's like the same thing happens. Except for Fables, of course. I love James Jean's cover art. I just want more, you know, I mean, don't get me wrong Witchblade and Catwoman will always be my favorites, but they've gotten really dull. That might be why I liked Northlanders so much. It's got a lot of action and violence, and I kinda dug reading a comic that features a guy's perspective for a change. Thanks for the Sinestro info and for not making fun of me cuz I'm totally lame and didn't know who he was! LOL, your joke was funny. |

I'm not really sure what my computer did there, but here's what that second paragraph said, in case you can't see it, cuz I definitely can't:

Hey, I'm so sorry I didn't come in tonight. I didn't see your message until now and it's like 11. My class was so boring, I would have rather talked about comics! I'll totally come in on Friday! Are you working that night or just during the day? I really hope you're working later than 5 cuz I don't drive (I know, I'm a really big loser), so I have to wait for my friends to wake up and take me, and they don't wake up until like 5 or 6! |
