So for those few of us who read Invincible by the issue instead of waiting for the trades (how do you guys find the patience to wait that long?), who else thinks Alan the Alien will be the traitor who is working for the Viltrumites?
I really hope not because he's such a fun-loving character and there's no reason to have assumed he would do anything like that, but his fascination with all of Owen's books and wanting every detail of Invincible's fight with the Viltrumites in #29 and that strange interest in Mark's little brother all read as kind of strange to me.
The next issue's cover features a female Viltrumite on the cover (an awesome image Ryan Otley had in his portfolio at Wondercon and I've been eagerly anticipating ever since). I foresee the Viltrumites coming to kidnap little Oliver. Could that be what she's doing in #44?
Theories? Disagreements? Anything I misread or overlooked?

I wouldn't have thought Alan to be a traitor but I guess it would explain him being left alive after getting the crap beat out of him by those two Viltrumites instead of them just killing him. But him scanning the books sounds perfectly reasonable. They're a possible means of stopping the Viltrumites which is one thing he's totally for.

True, but there was something about his interest, the "what else do you have? Tell me everything" nature of it, that made me feel like "He's going to go report to the Viltrumites, "We may have trouble with the Earth boy..."

Him being bad would explain him trying to destroy the "wrong planet" way back in the first issues

But him being bad wouldn't explain him attacking the planet annually for three years, and then stopping and going away. It's a bit of a stretch I think.
