saw it yesterday and LOVED IT, of course!!!

I will say, there are aspects of Lee's version that I really liked that were not in Leterrier's version. The whole concept of emotional scars was completely out. And, I suppose, that's a good thing. For a comic-book adaptation to work, it needs to be more approachable to a broad audience. This version is more of a fun ride than a deep emotional drama. And Leterrier's version is A FUN RIDE! I will say, in the beginning, it took a bit of time to climb that first hill (keeping the rollercoaster metaphor going.) But once it made it to the top, you were in for the ride of your life! One quick comment about the acting. Of all the performances, Liv's performance impressed me the most! I had no expectations regarding her performance. I was never impressed w/ Ms. Tyler as an actress so I didn't expect much. Of all the actors, however, she had the best range and probably the best performance! Back to the action. Top notch! Okay, the CGI looked like CGI, but hey it was still well above Lee's CGI hulk. The total geek that I am, I actually got a little choked up during the final battle. LOL! I admit it!! And the final battle scene is worth the price of the ticket alone! Again, I agree w/ the consensus - not Ironman, but still a very enjoyable and fun time at the movies.

So, this brings me to my last comment/question...
Given the fact that it was (mostly) reviewed well, and the common movie-goer enjoyed the film (the audience where I was applauded at the end!) WHY DID THIS MOVIE PERFORM SO POORLY AT THE BOX OFFICE?! Heck, Lee's movie made more money on its opening weekend! Why are people not as interested in this character? Is this the end of TIH on the big screen?

Why do we have to throw in all this extra peeks and easter eggs? Can't we just say the movie was good or bad on its own merits without having to delve deeper into its writer or directors meaning? It is like when we were in high school and had to read a book and come up with the authors existential meaning for writing what he did. I was an English major, and hated having to explain why a writer said what he said. The author ( James Kilmer) wrote Trees because he liked trees, not because he was an environmentalist. Don't try to read anything into what doesn't exist. Like it or hate it on its face value. 'Nuff said!!

I do like to draw and stuff, but I do not do it a lot. I'm not as good as AtomicBill or anything =][/quote]

LOL, I'm sorry, I totally didn't mean to put you on the spot. I asked you if you were into art cuz Bub, I'm not sure if you've spoken with him on here yet, is the owner of tribe comics and on his site, he has a link to a community-type place called the Hive. It's really cool, kinda like myspace, only better cuz it's for comic fans and artists. He wanted me to spread the word, and since you talk on here alot, I thought you might like it!

Well I watch the Hulk and I'll admit I watched it online and streamed it from a chinese site. Why cuase I thought it was going to suck. But anyway I watched it and it was pretty good, not great, but a decent action flick. However I think the reason it is good is becuase they went with a banner appraoch instead of a "Hulk Smash" movie.

Anyway to answer the question about why it didnt do as well in the box office as say IronMan is a simple one. Did you see the first hulk movie it was crap, so like most people including me asumed that the second one was better graphics with another crappy script.

But I give this movie a 3 out of 5 aka "Worth a download/stream , not worth spending money on"

I agree with Barquiel. A lot of people out there are anticipating this movie to suck, so they are all waiting for their friends, and friends of friends to go see it, and then hear by word of mouth whether or not it is good enough to see in theaters. I bet the second weekend's box office sales will be better than the opening weekend's.

And Lumiya, I haven't spoken with Bub on here yet, but I am already a member of another art website. Thanks for thinking of me though! (by the way, we should probably move this convo out of the Hulk thread and into it's own thread. Lol.)

I kinda doubt the Incredible Hulk will perform better the second week. That almost never happens. One reason it probably won't happen is because you have 2 big comedies opening the 20th - "Get Smart" and "The Love Guru". Granted, I can't see "Get Smart" garnishing a big box office take, but it does star Steve Carell who is golden right now. Mike Myers movies usually perform well, also. It is that 1-2 comedic punch that will keep “Incredible Hulk” from out earning itself the second weekend.

A good second weekend is crucial, tho. The studio claims it is ‘very happy’ with TIH’s opening weekend since it earned more than “Fantastic Four” or “Batman Begins” on their respective opening weekends. Plus, the stigma of Lee’s movie still on the minds of many was expected to keep many away. I think if it tanks big time the second weekend, we will see them running from their initial statement.

BTW - I have to disagree w/ Barquiel. No offense, man. You are entitled to your opinion. But, to say that the “Incredible Hulk” is “not worth spending money on" is a bit extreme, don’t you think? The movie is clearly worth the ticket price. IMO, it is a movie that deserves to be seen on a big screen to be appreciated. But hey, maybe that’s me.

Finally saw the movie last night. I thought it was great. Really enjoyed the little fan boy perks and the Bill Bixby homage. Stan "The Man" had I think his best cameo. I think it did well enough (and still is) at the box office for a sequel. How many of you noticed the set-up for the next movie's villain? Everone that did, raise your hand! :-)

brings up a point tho, the movie has broken even at the box office. In DVD sales, it will probably double what it made in the theaters. Has it earned itself a sequel or will the Hulk be put on ice until the Avengers movie is produced?

Well, I know the Avengers movie is scheduled for a 2011 release date. So it's possible to squeeze a Hulk sequel in before the Avengers

Finally went to see the Hulk and was amazed, it's just as awesome as Iron Man. These are the kind of marvel films I've been waiting for. Stark at the end hinting towards you know what, amazing.
