Artist Society flyer contest deadline is monday! Get them in to us by then! They need to be finished! Just background image is accepted, we can add the information on the computer later. However, please have the image atleast inked! More than one submission is accepted. One winner.

Hey Dani, what's up with the flyer contest? Sorry I wasn't there monday. Did you get any other entries? I've still got mine if you want it. I tweaked it a bit. I could drop it off at the store or just bring it on monday?
Oh, and I had an idea. I bet if we asked companies that make comic art supplies, like Blue line or Copic, they might be willing to give us free samples that could be used as prizes in future contests. It wouldn't hurt to ask.

Actually if you guys want to throw contests which I hope their will be many more to come. If your going to use prizes to get more entries which in my experiance of entering in like 100's of contests the prize generally determins how many entires you will get. I would say for prizes you could always throw in a free comic book of the winners choice or a poster. I know lots of people who will try to win contests just for posters so you might want to look into that.
Or find a good artist that is forbidden to enter the contest and have him/her do a free commission peice for them. |

| the only thing with that is, is that the company doesnt pay for the group at all. We just host the location and I run it. The prizes come out of either my, or Mo's, pocket. Thats why the prizes arent that great. lol |

Do people need the incentive of a prize in order to enter the flyer contest? I suppose Dani could print out a generic 'certificate of achievement' if it is that important;)
It would be a good idea to get a flyer out soon, now that summer is approaching and school will be out. When exactly does the school year end anyway?

The flyer itself should be its own prize! To see people looking at your flyer and being like "Oooh! This is sooo neat! I wana join the Artist Society!" should be a reward! But Nooooo! Mo and I are being generous and offering you a soda ontop of it!

Anyways, to the next post, No the flyer participant doesnt *need* to be in the club, but they don't get the prize if they win, though we will display their flyer as well. However seeing as theyre making a flyer for the contest, they SHOULD enter. |

Yea one of the reasons why I'm throwing my hat in the ring is free advertising of my art (Yea I know I havent started :/) But that sucks that the company dosent fund you guys. You would think they could give you say a $500 budget for the year so you could show movies,hold contests, and what ever else you wanted to do.
But if/when you guys hold a new contest I might able to get one of my contacts to supply some pencil work as a prize, or I could just donate some art for a contest. I hope theirs a new contest soon becuase contests are always fun and a lot of the times challenging :D. Altho I think the best way to get new members is a decoder ring (^ ^) |
