OK, so I admittedly have a bias. But.
However.
ROM:Spaceknight is the shee-ot.
Bill Mantlo not only wrote all 75 issues, but managed to craft a goddamn SAGA about ROM, Brandy Clark, Torpedo (Brock Jones) and the town of Clairton, West Virginia. Name me one other comic where a whole damn city full of innocents was killed in 1985. Mantlo was ahead of his time --- and ROM:Spaceknight let him write about honor, heroism, sacrifice, and love in a way that everyone could understand it.
If you've never read an issue of ROM:Spaceknight, this all sounds like poop.
If you've ever read an issue of ROM:Spaceknight, then you're nodding your head and sayijng, "Yeah, that was teh awesome".
So here's to Galador, to Starshine, to Gladiator, and to Clairton, WV. Most of all, here's to Bill Mantlo. Thanks, Bill, for firing an 8-year-old's imagination and inspiring him to write. |

Why not narrow the bandwidth down a little more. This is like saying that I am the single greatest bullfighter in all of Rhode Island.
You want ahead of it's time look at the Ostrander Suicide Squad and Deadshot mini-series. |

Quite right. I should have phrased it, "Name me one other comic that was doing things like killing entire cities in 1985".
And agree wholeheartedly on Suicide Squad. |
