Batman, Superman, the Legion, and Spider-Man could all be teaming up. CW, the network that already airs "The Batman" and "Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes," picked up Sony's new animated series "The Amazing Spider-Man."
The show will debut in early 2008 as part of the CW's Kids' WB Saturday morning block.
The project was originally planned as a direct-to-video feature about Peter Parker's junior year of high school as he learns to control his new powers. The series will have the same setting, but will allow for more stories and the introduction of more classic Spidey characters.
Supervising producer Greg Weisman promises the show will appeal to new and old fans alike. "Our goal is to reinterpret these great characters and concepts for our millennium," Weisman said. "We'll have plenty of resonant material for the Spider-Man fan, while engaging the Spider-Man novice with the same thrills we experienced when we were first exposed to the character."
Weisman is also the driving force behind "The Batman," so your feelings about the reimagined Joker, Riddler, Mr. Freeze, and others may color his statement about "reinterpreting great characters" positively or negatively.
No announcement has been made regarding voice cast or what type of animation will be employed. |
