Last night Lou’s brother Rich took us on a scenic tour of Pittsburgh. The most impressive point had to have been exiting the Fort Pitt tunnel. It opens into a beautiful view of downtown Pittsburgh, which reminds me of a mix between the architecture and hills of San Francisco and the rivers running through Portland. We were all very impressed with the town as a whole.

We napped for about three ours before hitting the road at three in the morning. Daniel and I drove until we hit Columbus, Ohio around six. From there Rob took us to his hometown of Middletown, just outside of Cincinnati.

This sight greeted us as we arrived in town.
Rob informed me that this is "Touchdown Jesus"--for obvious reasons. This particular church is actually being sued because this statue is a "distraction." I asked if the people who had sued had ever been to Vegas. The woman I was talking to did not know.

I then told Rob that "Touchdown Jesus" already existed in the form of a mural on the library at Notre Dame, which happens to overlook the north end zone. Rob informed me that even if it wasn't invented there, it was perfected in Ohio.

The same can be said for Frisch’s Big Boy. "Even the 'F' has a pompadore," Rob says proudly. While I do not know which came first--Bob's or Frisch's Big Boy--I do know their mascots are equally awesome.
Before we could start eating, that bugger took off with our food! Hamburgler indeed! The Big Boy is the original patty pilferer. Lou eventually caught him by the seat of his pants. We made up, and he allowed us to take this picture all together.
"Catch me and get a burger and a picture," said the cherub-faced, pomade-soaked burger slinger.

The people in the diner were extremely nice, and even provided us with crayons!
Those aren’t your French Fries you little critter!

Also in Cincinnati we saw the template for the Halls of Justice from the Super-Friends cartoon. I didn’t have a chance to snap a picture, so here’s one I grabbed off the internet. Rad.
At one of the stops between Cincy and Nashville, we discovered that we had a stowaway on the van. Everybody else I recognize. We have Captain America, Spider-Man, and the Hulk. But who is this little fella?
He’s got too much face to be the Question, but too little to be anybody else. Let’s just call him the Handsome Stranger.

Anybody know who this is? I believe it comes off of the cover of the Ultimates #12. By the way, did you know that we have been reading the Grand Theft America arc since June 2005? No joke.

I know that we haven’t solved a mystery in a while, so when one presented itself we jumped on the occasion. We heard from an old prospector that there was a land where hundreds of dinosaurs still roamed! In the spirit of adventure, we sought out that land, and were only dissuaded from our goal by the 10 dollar entrance fee. But here is us at the entrance of Dinosaur World.
Then the Pterodactyl got angry and took flight!
Actually, it turns out that the people at Dinosaur World don’t look too kindly on your friendly neighborhood rock climbers. "Here they come!" is all Julian had to say. If I could add a "Kapwing!" sound effect to this picture I would.

(You mean like this? - Jake)
After a mild warning, which sounded like it had been given fifty times, we found some more dinos!

That is the fun thwarting gentleman right there. He was actually very kind about the whole thing. Rob contends that if they didn't want people to climb on things, they shouldn't have made magical climbing dino-radness. I tend to agree.

Right now we are driving in shifts and are hoping to drive all the way through to Arizona, but safety first and all that. We may have to stop in Oklahoma or Texas for a few hours.

Almost therefully yours,
Pinky, “The Brain”
