I'll start by saying I was not always a big Superman fan over the years, but Geoff Johns and Gary Frank have turned me into one. I had heard how great the Legion of Super-Heroes story was running in Action Comics several months back and that I should really read it. I like both creator's previous work so I thought I'd give it a try and bought the hard cover collection. Not only did they win me over and get me reading Action Comics, but I am now a fan of the Legion as well! Darn you Johns and you're excellent writing!!

Well once hooked I continued reading the title and was surprised to love the current Brainiac story even more then the Legion tale. This week's issue is the final part of the storyarc which made Brainiac not only a much scarrier and interesting villain, but also tied him into the origins of Superman and the current Supergirl. Geoff has a real gift for paying homage to continuity while updating and revising it in a smart and exciting way. I really enjoy the fact that Gary Frank also draws Superman in the likeness of Christopher Reeeve, it's a nice touch.

This issue see the final confrontation of Superman and Brainiac but also sees the beginning of come big changes in the world of Clark Kent. There has been some manistream press coverage of one BIG event that I will not spoil here, but this issue is sure to be in every Superman fan's collection. It's a great read, and a great series under the direction of Johns and Frank. I highly recommend this book. It's one of those titles that is at the top of my reading stack each time it comes out. I'm willing to bet, once you start reading it, the same will be true for you.
