To all friends and fans of Chandler Cinemas, Rocky Horror, Movies & Culture:

I'm going to cut right to the chase here. Chandler Cinemas needs your help.

Since we took over Chandler Cinemas in January, we have worked like crazy to bring something new and different to the Valley's movie scene—a truly independent movie theatre, "run BY movie lovers, FOR movie lovers". And we've succeeded in doing things NO ONE else in the Phoenix-area cinema business has dared (or even bothered) to attempt.

But it hasn't been enough. Right now, we're fighting for our very survival—which is literally week-to-week.

Due to the rising costs of air-conditioning, equipment repair and replacement, and several other factors, we're teetering on the brink of having to close our doors as soon as the end of July.

This would mean no home for The Rocky Horror Picture Show or The Midnite Movie Mamacita's Cult Classics; not to mention those awesome $2 movies that you can bring the whole family to without going broke.

We know times are tough for everyone right now. Gas prices are through the roof and the economy is in the gutter.

But that's exactly why $2 movies are such a great deal!

Below is a list of things we're doing to try and raise business. Even if you're broke, there are things everyone can do to help.

So that's it, folks. Please help us keep our dream alive—the dream of Independent Cinema in the Valley. Don't let us join the list of so many other cool spots in this desert that have already been snuffed out.

We believe we WILL survive—with your help. Faith manages.

Genuine Love,

Matthew M. Yenkala,
Owner/Operator

Andrea Beesley-Brown,
Operations & Programming Director

And the Management & Staff of Chandler Cinemas

THINGS EVERYONE CAN DO TO HELP US SURVIVE!

1. FLYERING PARTIES

We have volunteers working to take flyers throughout the local neighborhoods and businesses. If you want to volunteer, please email us ASAP at chandlercinemas@gmail.com

2. DIRECT DONATIONS

We know not everyone can afford to give, but if you CAN, we are happy to accept donations of ANY size—$5, $20, $100, whatever you can afford. However large or small, every little bit helps! We accept donations through our PayPal account; or you can bring it into the theatre, or drop us a message at chandlercinemas@gmail.com and we'll give you a mailing address.
(Rich Uncles always welcome, especially if they love movies!)

3. FUN RAISER

Assuming we manage to make it into August, we're currently putting together acts, vendors, bands and "mystery movies" for a FUN-RAISER on Saturday, August 2nd (which will also be ROCKY's 100th show). If you want to be on the bill or help promote it, get in touch! chandlercinemas@gmail.com

4. SPREAD THE WORD

More than ever before, PLEASE TELL PEOPLE ABOUT US! Spread the word about everything we're doing and trying to do. Our discount movies, our special programming, everything! You can get flyers at the theatre and take them to your work, school, church, or wherever.

And PLEASE send this message to anyone you think will care!

5. RENTALS

We offer the BEST rental rates of any movie theatre in town. Want to host a private party? Screen your own movie? Call us! We're also happy to rent to church groups who want a place to hold Sunday morning service, filmmakers who want to shoot films, or small businesses who would be interested in subletting our front lobby.

Just let us know!

6. COME SEE MOVIES!

Pretty simple and self-explanatory! We are just about to start getting the big summer blockbusters--we expect IRON MAN, INDIANA JONES, and PRINCE CASPIAN in the coming weeks--but come and see what we have NOW! You can't go wrong for just $2 bucks!
