Atomic Comics - For those who may not know, what exactly does an assistant editor for Dark Horse Comics do? It’s not all spellchecking as one might think, correct?
Patrick Thorpe - Haha, no! We actually have a full time proofreader named Annie Gullion who doesn’t get nearly the amount of recognition she deserves—best in the business.

Atomic Comics - You have done a lot of work for “anthology” books like 24/7 and Comic Book Tattoo. Do you feel that you can be a little more creative with a story if it’s in an anthology book as opposed to an on-going series?
Ivan Brandon - Absolutely. When I first started writing comic scripts I would force myself to do a lot of that as a sort of exercise... scripts without dialogue, 5 and 8 page story scripts, etc.

Atomic Comics - Obviously with an iconic character like Spider-Man, it’s easy to keep creating and creating. However, what is the unique hook to Amazing-Spider Man Extra that will make it compelling to long time and new fans? i.e. Tell us how to pimp this one for you.
Steve Wacker - “ASM Extra” was born out of the fact that we had some beats that didn’t quite warrant full fledged issues in the ongoing series, but that we thought were important to get out there for the readers who wanted to explore our subplots a little deeper or catch up on some recurring characters.

Atomic Comics - So Thunderbolts has been your first major work at Marvel since your Punisher story. What's it been like working with the big guy on the block?
Andy Diggle - In a word, awesome. They've really made me feel like part of the team. I found myself writing an Avengers scene the other day and had to pinch myself. Did I say pinch? I meant fondle.

Atomic Comics - You are famous all over the internet! Live Journal, MySpace, Twitter, Facebook – the list could keep going. Why haven’t more creators embraced the net like you have?
Warren Ellis - Haven't they? I don't take a lot of notice of what other creators do. I was waiting for the internet my whole life, I think.

AC - Dark Avengers spins right out of the end of Secret Invasion and looks to be the lead book for Dark Reign. Was Dark Reign always in place to be the end result of Secret Invasion? Or did it come later as a new concept that Secret Invasion was then used to springboard?
BMB - Nope. It was right there in the very first pitch. It was something Joe got very excited about. The line I used was: what if all the marvel icions got to feel what its like to be Peter Parker? Even when you win, you lose. Not all personalities can handle that kind of thing. It’ll be interesting to see who can and who can’t.
