Customers were amazed by realistic cute kitty mewling sound effects in the Kids’ Section of the Atomic Comics Chandler Mall store. Their amazement quickly turned to horror as they realized the meows were real! It seemed a kitten might be trapped inside the wall.
The Chandler Management Team immediately notified the Mall management office and we were informed feral cats are a standard problem for many malls. Mommy feral cats oftentimes obtain access to the inner wall areas via service ducts and pipes, where they lay their litters and then come and go to feed their new babies. So the office told us to just hang in there and in a few days when they can see, Mommy Cat will move the kittens out and into the open. In addition, they informed us there are restrictions and rules governing the rights of feral cats, and they couldn’t remove them from the property. (Turns out this is indeed true, at least here in Arizona)
For this poor kitty, though, life was destined to take a terrible turn, as he fell from the perch where the rest of the litter was being nurtured, becoming trapped at the base of the inner wall with no way for him or mommy to reach each other. Over the next few days, his cries became more frantic and insistent until we were able to convince the Mall management office that we needed to cut him out ASAP!
Intrepid handyman, Phil from the Mall maintenance team showed up armed to rescue the lost kitten. Within a few minutes, he had the wall opened and the poor kitty rescued and safe in a towel lined Diamond Comics box.

One of our Associates, Julia, immediately rushed the kitty to the veterinarian for a complete check-up and then adopted him. Mommy cat and the rest of the litter had indeed already moved on.

Our little kitty is now known as Deadpool and is eating and drinking normally and appears to be 100% healthy in his new home!
